On Monday, 11/21/11, I'll give a talk about UX design considerations for Windows Phone 7. Designing for smart phones is not the same as designing for desktop or web applications. While many fundamental usability principles can be applied 1:1, there are unique factors that impact the user experience design. In the first part of this talk, I’ll provide some concrete UX design considerations specifically for small form factors. In the second part, I’ll provide an overview of Microsoft’s Metro design language which is used both in Windows Phone 7 and the upcoming Windows 8. By showcasing the design process of Phone 7 apps we built, I’ll demonstrate how we applied Metro when designing new apps or porting from other phone OS like iPhone or Android to Windows Phone 7.
