Will there be a hotfix available for CLR 3.X, or should I use the one targeted for CLR 2.0, even if I have installed the 2008 bundle targeted for CLR 3.X?

Mark,

There is a separate hot fix installer for those who have installed "NetAdvantage for ASP.NET 2008 Volume 1 for CLR 3.x".  Using the CLR 2.0 hot fix installer will not patch your CLR 3.x assemblies.

Why can the hotfixes for NetAdvantage 2008 Vol. 1 not be installed when the bundle was used to do the install of the suite? If I install with the bundle msiexec complains about incorrect version yet if I install via the WinForms or ASP.NET install I can then install the relevant hotfix

Geoff,

This doesn't sound as though this should be happening, though there are likely details that I'm missing.  I suggest that you submit a support request so that a Developer Support Engineer can look into this in more detail.

Thanks Mark

It seems that if you install the bundle then you can only install the hotfix targeted for the bundle rather than choosing only the targeted ASP.NET or WinForms hotfixes. Which in some ways is a bit suprising as my understanding where that hotfixes are not "fully tested" and should only be applied to fix a bug affecting your application.

Thanks anyway.

Geoff,

Now I understand what you mean.  The result is expected, but probably requires some explanation.

We started using the ".msp" patch-installer format for hot fixes, I believe within the past year.  One of the requirements that this imposes is that the patch must match the exact product that was installed.  Since we have "NetAdvantage for .NET", "NetAdvantage for Windows Forms", and "NetAdvantage for ASP.NET" as separate "products" (as far as the installation software is concerned), we have to release separate hot fixes for each.  This isn't a feature that we can change, if I understand correctly.

So, yes, if you installed "NetAdvantage for .NET 2008 Volume 1", then you have to install the hot fix for "NetAdvantage for .NET 2008 Volume 1", not for "NetAdvantage for ASP.NET 2008 Volume 1" or "NetAdvantage for Windows Forms 2008 Volume 1" - even though the first package contains everything in the other two packages.

I can only find the NetAdvantage_WinForms_20081_CLR20_HotFix_2013.msp.

When will the hotfix be released for the NetAdvantage_NET_20081_CLR20_Bundle?

Hi.  I'm a little confused.  Maybe I downloaded the wrong hotfix.  I have NetAdvantage for ASP.NET 2008 Vol. 1.  I downloaded NetAdvantage for ASP.NET 2008 Vol. 1 Hot Fix (not the [CLR 3.X] because I am using framwork 2.0 and asp 2.0). When I go to open the .msp file, i get this error:

The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the windows installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program.  Verify that the program to be upgraded exists n your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch.

Need help because my page isn't working properly at the moment.

Thanks Vince!

Vince, I'm planning to introduce the ASP.NET 2008 suite into our main web application. I'm curently using your demo version, but the performance is getting degraded only with 900 when we use yhe webgrid. It takes close to a minute when sorting, or filtering is applied. Is this performance problem been corrected after the HOTFIX installation? If so, is there a way for us to test the corrected components?

thanks

Nicholas,

Sorry for not responding sooner; I didn't see your comment earlier.

There's simply not enough information for me to comment.  It'll likely take some research to be certain what the cause of this behavior is, whether it should be expected (if there's a reason, of course), and whether or not it's already fixed.

I suggest that you submit a support request to Developer Support for assistance.  It may help if you provide a sample project; we'll need to be able to run and debug it, so it's best if you keep it as simple as possible.

Oaken,

Again, I apologize for not responding sooner.

It's possible you installed a different product than you thought.  Check the "Add/Remove Programs" section in your Control Panel, which will list the products you've installed.  The hot fix installer you download must match the product you installed.

If this doesn't help, please submit a support request, and my staff can assist you in more detail.

Lars,

Yet another delayed response, for which I apologize.

There isn't a separate installer for the "bundle" downloads.  The bundles each include mulitple installers, and it's the installers included in the bundle that determine what you need to download.

For instance, since you downloaded the NetAdvantage_NET_20081_CLR20_Bundle, you want the hot fix for NetAdvantage for .NET 2008 Volume 1, because this is what's included in the bundle.  The hot fix for "NetAdvantage for Windows Forms 2008 Volume 1" won't work in your case, unless you installed that separately.
